Meet our AMBASSADORS

As a small charity, we often need help to raise both awareness and funds. Our Ambassadors play a vital role in representing The Snappy Trust at local events, speaking about our work and the importance of the funds we are able to raise. A little more about our ambassadors

Ambassador Bio

Tommy Cannon

One half of comedy duo Cannon and Ball, Commanding TV audiences in excess of 15 million viewers in the 80’s and 90’s.  Has appeared at the Royal variety show and in many Christmas pantomimes and has performed all over the world

 

Garry Schofield OBE

Retired Rugby league legend, who on retirement was the most capped Great Britain player of all time. He won the 1990 rugby league world golden boot award as the greatest player on the planet. In his career he played for many teams but most noticeably the Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants. He was voted Man of steel in 1991, he was awarded the OBE in 1994 and in 2013 was inducted into the Rugby league hall of fame.

 

Cheryl Baker   

Member of the Eurovision song contest winning group Bucks Fizz, who attained glory in 1981 with “Making your mind up” which also went to No1 in the charts and had further charts success with “The land of make belief” and “My camera never lies” both of which also went to No1. Still performing today with Mike Nolan and Jay Aston as “The Fizz”.

 

Peter Sidwell    

TV chef and food writer based in the Lake District and has appeared on our TV screens as a judge on “Britain’s best bakery” and “Lakes on a plate”. You can cook along with him on line every Saturday morning.

 

Ben Fry       

York’s very own Town Crier and hosts the breakfast show with Laura Castle on York Mix Radio. Ben also a businessman who has interests in “Hole in the wand” mini golf and the “Potions Cauldron”

 

Chris Marsden      

Started his career at Worksop hospital radio and now Hosts the Big drive home show on YO1 radio and also has a programme on BBC Radio York. He also can be heard as a voice over artist.

 

Chris Chittell  BEM    

Plays Eric Pollard in “Emmerdale” and has done since 1986 making him the longest serving cast memory in the Soaps history. He has appeared in several movies including “To sir with love” and “Zulu Dawn”. He was awarded the British empire medal in 2019.   

 

Mark Baddon    

A Yorkshire businessman but also plays an active role in bringing attractions to the Eversley Park Centre in Sherburn in Elmett with his wife Diane. Mark is also an actor and has appeared on our screens in many programmes and TV ads.

 

Paul Bailey      

A successful businessman. He loves his cars and has a large collection of Supercars and hypercars, he was the first person in the world to own the Holy trinity of supercars, which consists of the Mclaren P1, Ferrari le Ferrari and the Porsche 918 spyder. He is also a racing driver and races a Brabham BT62 in the GT Cup.

 

Ellie Brennan   

Traffic & Travel Correspondent at BBC Radio 5 Live and is a lunch-mate on Steph's Packed Lunch on Channel 4. Ellie speaks Spanish and she says she is an exceptional dancer.

Rick Witter     

Singer/songwriter/frontman/vocalist for Indie rock band Shed seven. The band have notched up 7 top 40 albums and have sold out venues up and down the country. Rick also hosts radio shows.

 

Laurence Cellario     

Founder of Incentive Concept who are based in Monaco and who handle the hospitality surrounding the Monaco F1 grand prix, aswell as arranging travel and hospitality to many other grand prixs and special events.

Never the bride        

 

Nikki Lamborn & Catherine “Been” Feeney      

Performing together for over 25 years. They have played along side such legends as Elton John and the Who. Shirley Bassey described the girls as inspirational, and Roger Daltrey says Nikki has the best female rock voice since Janis Joplin. The have done private performances for Cher, Liza Minelli and Bob Harris amongst others.

 

Gary Wolstenholme MBE     

Only became a professional golfer at the age of 47, throughout his career he has won many tournaments and has received various prestigious honours. He was awarded the MBE in 2007 in the new years honours list for his services to sport.

 

Lord Gerald and Lady Emma Fitzalan Howard    

Owners of the beautiful Carlton Towers in Yorkshire, a country estate, with a vineyard, tearooms, holiday cottages and the house is used for hosting weddings and other amazing events. The ITV drama Victoria was filmed at Carlton.

 

Toby Jepson     

Singer/songwriter and between 1984 and 1995 he was the lead singer with successful rockers “Little Angels” who had ten top 40 singles and a number 1 album with “Jam”. Between 2007 and 2017 he was fronting rock band “Gun” and now performs and tours with Wayward Sons. He has worked with Bon Jovi, Van Halen, ZZ top, Bryan Adams and Marillion. He is also a producer and writer and has collaborated with Katie Melua, Saxon and Toseland amongst others.

 

Lisa Byrne       

Luxury bespoke PR consultant, columnist and freelance writer. She was the editor in chief of OK magazine during the heady days of multi million pound wedding deals. She has been seen through her work in the company of many huge names such as HRH Prince William, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Elizabeth Taylor, Gary Barlow and Liza Minelli amongst others.

 

Kerry Ellis    

Originated the role of “Meat” in the Queen musical “We will rock you”. She has performed in the West End and on Broadway and has taken on many roles. She has had successful albums with long time friend Queen guitarist Brian May. She has sung at the Royal variety performance, the Laurence Olivier awards and on many TV shows.

 

Sheree Hewson     

English actress TV personality and novelist, best known for playing Joyce temple savage in Sitcom “Benidorm” and Maureen Holdsworth in Coronation Street.  Between 2003 and 2017 she was on the panel of Loose Women. She has written a crime fiction novel called “The Tannery” an autobiography “Sherrie, behind the laughter” and also a cookbook called “Nana’s Kitchen”. She now hosts a show on Facebook and You Tube called The Wonderbirds show.

 

Craig Forsyth    

Ex rugby player who in 1995 started playing for York Wasps and later York City Knights and in total played  for 17 seasons. Now he spends his time running his own business but always finds time to take on a challenge for charity. This includes events such as the London Marathon, Total warrior and rowing the Atlantic solo.

 

Denny Laine      

Although living in New York, he is an English singer songwriter and most notably performed with The Moody Blues and Paul McCartney and Wings. He still performs as a solo artist and is viewed as a legend in the music world.

 

Willie Morgan     

Former professional footballer classed as one of the “Magnificent 7’s” he wore the No7 shirt at Manchester united along with George Best, Eric Cantona, Brian Robson and David Beckham amongst others. Other clubs he played for include Burnley, Bolton Wanderers, and Blackpool. He also had an international career with Scotland. He scored 59 goals in his career.

 

Max Coates      

Director of a Marketing Agency but best known for being a racing driver in the British touring car championship paddock. He has many wins to his name and is currently competing in the Mini Challenge UK.

Andrew Pericleous      

From catering for royalty to owning and directing a leading fish n chip takeaway in the heart of York City Centre. Andrew has over 35 years of experience within the catering and hospitality sector, and has been instrumentally involved in some of York's biggest events over the years such as catering for the Queen's visit, and the Millennium Mystery Plays in York Minster in 2000.

David Brown BEM     

Worked for 35 years as a Police Officer, and now spends his time representing The Snappy Trust as their Patron. He was recognised in the 2021 New Year's Honours list for his work in the community of York and was awarded the British Empire Medal.

Nicola Wheeler      

Award winning actress currently playing Nicola King on one of the UK's favourite soaps, Emmerdale. In 2006 she won a British Soap Award. She has also appeared in the crime drama, Band Of Gold.

Wayne Chadwick      

Wayne is a businessman and Entrepreneur based in York. He is the MD of local community radio station, YO1, and also hosts a show on the station. He is also actively involved as the boss at The York Roast Company.
