We all love our takeaway coffee, but did you know that within the UK alone, there are thought to be over 7 MILLION disposable coffee cups used each and every day? That adds up to 2.5 BILLION single use coffee cups being thrown away each year, in the just the UK. That’s huge!
What’s worse - of those 2.5 billion SINGLE USE coffee cups being thrown away, only 1 in every 12 is likely to be recycled.
Many takeaway cups have an inner plastic liner which is tightly bonded to the paper to make the cups both heat and leak-proof. This unfortunately makes the cups unsuitable for standard recycling and they often get moved to general waste.
Recycling is such an important issue in today’s society and Karen Nash, one of our parents, has proved that as well as supporting our communities recycling goals we can recycle to raise money to support our schemes!
And so… we would like to introduce a new element to our fundraising through recycling programme. We are offering you the chance to get your hands on one of our new REUSABLE coffee cups so you can enjoy your takeaway coffee without adding to our communities waste problems.
